Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has appointed Health CAS Dr. Mercy Mwangangi as a member of a special taskforce tasked with proposing reforms in the Nairobi City County Health Sector.
In a statement on Thursday, September 15, the county boss appointed Dr. Mwangangi in a six-member team, which will be chaired by former Kenyatta University Vice Chancellor Prof. Olive Mugenda.
Other members in the team include; Amref Health Africa CEO Dr. Githinji Gitahi, Dr. Anastacia Nyalita, Dr. William Charles Fryda, Ms. Dorcas Kemunto and Ms. Karei Mwenda.
Sakaja appointed Nairobi County Secretary Dr. Jairus Musumba to serve as the secretariat for the taskforce.

“It is notified for general information of the public that The Governor of Nairobi, H.E. Johnson Sakaja, has appointed a taskforce chaired by Prof. Olive Mugenda to review and propose reforms in the Nairobi City County Health Sector,” read part of the statement by governor Sakaja.
Sakaja stated in the statement that the taskforce will engage members of the public, Nairobi County health staff and other stakeholders to review the public’s access to quality health services.
The taskforce was also tasked to assess the status of all public health facilities, review the human resource capacity reviewing and proposing an efficient health financing model.
Sakaja stated that the taskforce shall prepare and submit its report with recommendations within a period 45 days from the date of appointment.
