Economist David Ndii has come out to explain the total amount spent by the Linda Katiba activists.
This is after the group was accused of receiving money from foreign powers to support their initiative of opposing the BBI process.
In a Twitter post, Ndii laughed off the allegation of receiving funds from foreigners stating that their activities are self-funded and cost only Sh50,000 to date.
“Hilarious. To date #LindaKatiba has spent the princely sum of Sh50K on a presser, paid out of pocket, and someone is catching fever about heavy foreign funding. We do understand. If this was a GoK event, they’d have added a 1 or even 2 in front,” stated Ndii.
Critics of the initiative had claimed that Linda Katiba was using proceeds from corruption to build on their schedule.
The Linda Katiba initiative is led by Ndii, Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana, Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua, and activist Boniface Mwangi.
According to the group, the BBI proposal to change the constitution is meant to benefit a few leaders, and Kenyans must reject the process.
Linda Katiba accuses the BBI of using taxpayers' money for political reasons at the expense of Kenyans struggling to survive.
