Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has intimated that he had a phone call with President William Ruto over the murder of Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif in Kenya.
In a statement on Monday, October 24, Shehbaz said that he asked Ruto to ensure a transparent investigation into the incident.
The Pakistan PM further maintained that the Kenyan Head of State promised to fast track the process of returning the journalist's body to Pakistan.
"Just had a telephonic call with Kenyan President William Ruto about the tragic death of Arshad Sharif in Kenya. I requested him to ensure fair & transparent investigation into shocking incident. He promised all-out help including fast-tracking the process of return of the body to Pakistan," Shehbaz stated.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), Sharif was shot dead along Kamukuru marram road within Magadi, Kajiado County on Sunday night, October 23.
In a statement by police spokesperson Bruno Shioso, NPS stated that the deceased was in the company of his brother when the incident occurred.
"NPS regrets to announce an incident that occurred last night along Kwenia farm/Kamukuru marram road within Magadi, Kajiado where a foreigner National namely Arshad Sharif, a Pakistan national aged 50 years was fatally wounded by a police officer while a passenger in a motor vehicle KDG 200M. At the time of the incident, the deceased was in the company of his brother namely, Khurram Ahmed," Shioso stated.
A police report filed at Magadi police station indicated that Sharif had bypassed a roadblock at Kiserian-Magadi road before the police fired at the vehicle.
