Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party has unveiled former Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi as the party's candidate in the Bungoma senatorial by-elections.
The announcement was made by Azimio leader Raila Odinga in a press briefing on Thursday, October 3, at the Serena Hotel, Nairobi.
Raila said that Wamunyinyi had what it takes to win the Bungoma senatorial seat, adding that the former MP has a record of speaking out for the people of Kenya.
"We want to let the country know that as a party we will be fielding a candidate in the Bungoma senatorial by-elections. Our candidate in that contest will be Hon. Wafula Wamunyinyi. He is our ideal person and we're pleased to unveil him here," Raila stated.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announced that the Bungoma senatorial by-election will be held on December 8, 2022.
The seat became vacant following the resignation of Moses Wetangula to take up the role of National Assembly Speaker.
"Following declaration of vacancy that occurred in the office of Member of the Senate for Bungoma County confirmed by the respective Speakers of the Senate via a letter dated the 26th September, 2022, there shall be a by-election for Member of the Senate for Bungoma County on Thursday, 8thDecember, 2022," IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati said.
The Kenya Kwanza coalition has yet to announce its candidate in the race.
