Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has encouraged universities to look for other ways of generating income.
The CS maintained that education took a huge chunk of public funding and still many universities were faced with financial problems.
“I’m going to move around each and every university in Kenya because a number is faced with financial problems and we are encouraging that they must generate their own income because the exchequer as it is now is not going to continue funding more,” Machogu stated.
The remarks attracted mixed reactions from Kenyans considering the financial situation of many universities which previously had strikes over financial crises.
