Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has announced plans to enable passport processing at Huduma Centers across the country.
Speaking on Tuesday, April 22, Ruku revealed that passport registration is one of the most frequently requested services at Huduma Centers.
He said the government will explore ways to integrate immigration services into the centers to enhance efficiency and accessibility.
"There is one service which most of the Kenyans come to the Huduma Centers to ask if it is offered, and we will see how we can synchronise with the Ministry of Immigration to ensure passport registration can be processed from the Huduma Centers.
"As a government, we will work to see whether it's possible to have many immigration services offered at Huduma Centers," he said.

Currently, the Directorate of Immigration Services facilitates applications through the eCitizen portal.
The first step in the passport application process includes creating an account on the eCitizen portal and filling out an application form.
Once the application form is filled, applicants proceed to pay the required fees depending on the type of passport; a 32-page ordinary passport (A Series) costs Ksh4,550, a 48-page ordinary passport (B Series) is Ksh6,050 while a 64-page ordinary passport (C Series) is Ksh7,550.
On the other hand, diplomatic passports with 48 pages also cost Ksh7,550.
After payment, applicants are required to print the completed application form along with three payment receipts.
Supporting documents, including the original and a copy of the birth certificate, original and copy of the national ID card, three recent passport-sized photographs, and a copy of the recommender’s ID card, must be prepared in advance.
Applicants must also book an appointment via the eCitizen portal for biometric data capture at the most convenient passport processing center.
Once the passport is ready, applicants are notified via SMS or email and can then collect their passport from the center where they submitted their application.
Passport processing centers are located in various parts of the country, including Nyayo House in Nairobi, Uhuru na Kazi Building in Mombasa, the New Provincial Commissioner’s Office in Kisumu, the Embu Provincial Commissioner’s Office ,and the Regional Commissioner’s Building in Nakuru.
Other centers are at the County Commissioner’s Building in Kisii, the Public Works Building in Eldoret, Ardhi House 4th Floor in Kericho, and the Bungoma Immigration Office.
