President William Ruto has hit back at Wiper leader after he claimed he was the one who launched the construction of the Kibwezi-Maua road.
Speaking on Tuesday, December 16, President Ruto said the road was constructed after he and former President Uhuru Kenyatta assumed office following the 2013 General Election.
The President said he has evidence showing that the project was undertaken during Uhuru’s tenure.
“He is claiming that he is the one who launched the road from Kibwezi all the way to Mbondoni. I want to tell him to look for fools; there are no longer fools in Kenya.
“That road was not built by him; it was built by Uhuru and me when we took over the government, and we have the facts,” said Ruto.

President Ruto also took a swipe at Kalonzo after he said the President was mistaken in claiming the former vice president had been in politics for 50 years, clarifying that his political career spans 40 years.
“He has tried to respond to me, saying it’s not 50 years but 40 years. Now let me ask him, are 40 years just two days? How many years do you need, my friend? In 40 years, you haven’t done anything. How many years do you need to plan the road to your own home? Ruto posed.
On Monday, December 15, Kalonzo said that while serving as Vice President, he launched the construction of the road passing through Tseikuru.
The Wiper party leader highlighted that the construction of the road was given to a Chinese company known as Sinohydro.
"When I was Vice President, I launched the construction of the road with a contractor named Sinohydro, I want Ruto to deny,” Kalonzo stated.
“Sinohydro is a Chinese contractor whom I commissioned to construct the road from Kibwezi -Mutomo -Kitui-Mwingi - Tseikuru- Maua, and this road connects Ethiopia with Mombasa."
Kalonzo was responding after President Ruto on Sunday told him he has been in politics for over 4 decades, but the road leading to his home in Tseikuru was dusty.
