Diesel prices will fall by Ksh5 per litre from Saturday, August 15, while the prices of Super Petrol and Kerosene will remain unchanged for the next monthly pricing cycle.
In a statement on Friday, August 14, the Energy & Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced the new maximum retail prices covering the period from August 15 to September 14.
EPRA said the new prices were calculated in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Petroleum Act and regulations governing the monthly review of petroleum prices.
"In accordance with Section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act 2019 and Legal Notice No.192 of 2022, the Energy & Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has calculated the maximum retail prices of petroleum products which will be in force from 15th August 2026 to 14th September 2026," the statement read.
EPRA said motorists using Diesel would benefit from a Ksh5 per litre reduction, while Super Petrol and Kerosene prices would remain unchanged.

As such, in Nairobi, Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene will retail at Ksh214.03, Ksh217.86 and Ksh191.38 per litre, respectively.
"In the period under review, the maximum allowed petroleum pump prices for Diesel decreases by Ksh5.00/litre while the price of Super Petrol and Kerosene remain unchanged due to additional Government Stabilization Support Measures of Ksh938 Million," the statement added.
EPRA further clarified that the announced pump prices include applicable Value Added Tax and other statutory tax adjustments under the relevant laws.
"The prices are inclusive of the Value Added Tax (VAT), in line with the VAT Act, 2013 as read with Legal Notice No. 128 of 14th July 2026, the Finance Act, 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2024 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020," the statement further read.

According to EPRA, the latest review also reflected significant changes in the average landed costs of imported petroleum products between June and July 2026.
While the cost of Super Petrol rose, the landed costs of Diesel and Kerosene recorded notable declines.
"The average landed cost of imported Super Petrol increased by 6.99% from US$836.92 per cubic metre in June 2026 to US$948.92 per cubic metre in July 2026; Diesel decreased by 13.08% from US$984.37 per cubic metre to US$855.59 per cubic metre while Kerosene decreased by 11.01% from US$1028.17 per cubic metre to US$915.01 per cubic metre over the same period," the statement concluded.
This comes a month after the government extended the application of the reduced 8 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) on petroleum products for another three months.
In a statement on Tuesday, July 14, Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi said the extension of the reduced VAT rate had been agreed upon in consultation with the National Treasury to cushion Kenyans from continued volatility in the global oil market.
"As part of the Government's commitment to cushioning households and businesses from international market volatility, in consultation with the National Treasury, we have extended the application period for 8% of Value Added Tax (VAT) on petroleum products for a further three months, until 14th October 2026," the statement read.
Wandayi added that the government would deploy funds from the Petroleum Development Levy to help stabilize pump prices during the current review period.
"Further, in the July-August 2026 pricing cycle, the Government will deploy a subsidy from the Petroleum Development Levy to the tune of Ksh945 Million to sustain the current price levels," the statement added.
Wandayi said the ministry will continue working closely with industry players to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply, safeguard the Government-to-Government arrangement, and keep the public informed of developments in the global market.
"This Ministry will continue to work closely with the industry to keep supply consistent and uninterrupted, to defend the fixed terms of our Government-to-Government arrangement, and to keep Kenyans fully and openly informed as the picture continues to develop," the statement further said.
