Payments to policyholders of Corporate Insurance Company Limited, Trident Insurance Company Limited and KUSCCO Mutual Assurance Company Limited have been delayed further.
Payments to policyholders and other creditors of Corporate Insurance Company Limited, Trident Insurance Company Limited and KUSCCO Mutual Assurance Company Limited have been delayed further after the Policyholders Compensation Fund (PCF) extended moratoriums affecting the three insurers.
In a notice on Tuesday, September 22, the PCF said the extensions took effect on September 10, 2026, and will remain in place for a further two months.
The three companies are currently under statutory management, with the PCF serving as the statutory manager.
The extensions followed decisions by the Commissioner of Insurance to extend the statutory management periods and retain the PCF as statutory manager under Section 67C(2)(i) of the Insurance Act.
The moratoriums restrict payments by the three insurers to their policyholders and other creditors.

"Pursuant to the extension of the Statutory Management period and the retention of the appointment of the Policyholders Compensation Fund (hereinafter referred to as “PCF”) as the Statutory Manager for Corporate Insurance Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as “the Insurer”) by the Commissioner of Insurance in exercise of his powers under Section 67C (2) (i) of the Insurance Act, Cap 487 of the Laws of Kenya. PCF hereby extends the Moratorium in exercise of powers conferred upon it under section 67C (10) of the Insurance Act on payments by the said insurer to its policyholders and all other creditors for a further period of two (2) months, effective from 10th September 2026.
"Further, a policyholder shall not be liable to pay any claim not payable by the insurer due to the moratorium as provided under section 67C (11) of the Insurance Act," the notice read.

The PCF issued separate declarations for Corporate Insurance, Trident Insurance and KUSCCO Mutual Assurance on September 9, 2026.
This comes months after the PCF announced the commencement of compensation payments to policyholders of Trident Insurance Company Limited with unsettled claims.
In a notice on Tuesday, April 14, the PCF invited policyholders and claimants of Trident Insurance to file for compensation.
"Notice is hereby given that Policyholders Compensation Fund, in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 179 of the Insurance Act and the Insurance (Policyholders Compensation Fund) Regulations 2010, has commenced payment of compensation to policyholders and claimants of Trident Insurance Company Limited (under Statutory Management)," read the notice in part.
The PCF said the affected policyholders and claimants of the Insurance company are required to submit their applications through its online claims portal accessible via its official website, www.pcf.go.ke.
The claimants must first register an account by following the provided instructions on the portal. Upon successful registration, they will receive an email notification.
They will then complete the claim form available on the portal and upload all required supporting documents before submission.
