Safaricom Chief Consumer Business Officer Sylvia Mulinge has parted ways with the giant telecommunications company.

In a memo by Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa seen by Nairobileo.co.ke, Sylvia’s last day in the company would be on September 30, 2022.

“I would like to announce that our Chief Consumer Business Officer Sylvia Mulinge will be leaving the company to take up a new role outside Safaricom. Her last working day is September 30, 2022,” Ndegwa stated.

Sylvia will be assuming the role of CEO of the MTN Group Uganda.

She joined Safaricom in 2006 and has held various senior roles including General Manager Enterprise Business Unit before she assumed the role of Chief Customer Officer in 2018.

The Safaricom CEO stated that Sylvia assumed her current role in July 2021 adding that she has been instrumental in many successes of the company.

“She has been an Executive Committee member (EXCO) for the last 9 years where she has offered leadership and been part of many of Safaricom’s successes,” Ndegwa stated.

The Safaricom CEO added that Sylvia lived the company’s purpose of transforming lives of its customers using technology as an enabler of positive change.

“As she embarks on the next phase of her career, I would like to congratulate Sylvia and thank her for her leadership and contribution to Safaricom over the years,” Ndegwa concluded.
