Here's an outline of some of the high-profile weddings that made headlines in Kenya in 2024:

Kalonzo Musyoka's Son

Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka's son Kelvin Muasya tied the knot on Saturday, 11 May 2024. Muasya married his lover Sharon Nthonki at an exquisite traditional wedding in Maanzoni, Machakos County.

The colorful wedding was graced by high-profile political figures including Azimio leader Raila Odinga, former Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa, former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, National Assembly Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi and Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni.

Kevin wore an emerald green African outfit, while his lover Sharon wore a royal purple flowered outfit to match. The groomsmen donned brown attires while the bridesmaids wore brown sequin dresses.

Sharon serves as a County Executive Committee Member for Trade, Tourism, Industry, and Innovation in the Machakos County government.

In a statement after the exquisite wedding, Kalonzo wished his son and daughter-in-law to have a strong union.

“Today, my son Muasya married his 'rib' and God's appointed helper, Nthoki. Thank you for allowing us to partake in your wonderful day and may your love grow stronger with every passing year,” said Kalonzo.

The former vice president also thanked the leaders who attended the invite-only event in Machakos.

“Asante sana Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Party Leader Raila Odinga for joining us and sharing a beautiful message. Thank you DAP Kenya PL Eugene Wamalwa and Jubilee Party SG Hon Kioni for making the time to share this special day with my family. To our family and friends, your presence was invaluable,” Kalonzo added.

CS Rebecca Miano's Son

Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano's son Peter Miano, on Saturday, April 6, held a lavish traditional wedding ceremony with his fiancé Wambui Kibe in Nairobi. 

The event was attended by prominent leaders including Defence CS Soipan Tuya, former Public Service CS Moses Kuria, former Health CS Susan Nakhumicha, former Gender CS Aisha Jumwa, former Labour CS Florence Bore, and former Water CS Zachariah Njeru among others.

The bride was dressed in a wine-red outfit complemented by a hand fan, while the groom wore a brown and white outfit that resembled the traditional Kikuyu attire.

Stephen Letoo Wedding

Renowned Citizen TV journalist Stephen Letoo married his lover Irene Renoi Kiptikoi at an exquisite ceremony held at Methodist Church, Narok County, on 20 April 2024.

Following the church service, Letoo and his bride proceeded to a huge reception at the Ole Ntimama stadium.

The wedding was graced by renowned media personalities such as Linus Kaikai, who's Letoo's boss at Citizen TV, Swaleh Mdoe, Melita Ole Tenges, Chemutai Goin, Ben Kirui and Makori Ongechi among others.

Kipchumba Karori

Kipchumba Karori, President William Ruto's legal secretary at State House, married his fiancée Dorothy Jepchumba at a lovely event held at St John The Evangelist Catholic Church, Nairobi, on 31 May 2024.

The event was marked by elegance as the newlywed rode in a vintage car while leaving the venue.

The wedding was attended by prominent persons such as First Lady Rachel Ruto, Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis ChirChir, and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei among others.

The First Lady congratulated the couple and wished them well in their union.

"I extend my congratulations to Kipchumba Karori and Dorothy Jepchumba on their sacred union at St John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Nairobi. May their journey together be filled with blessings, joy, and the kind of love that grows stronger every day. Here's to a lifetime of happiness and togetherness," she said.

Kipchumba had expressed interest in the Uasin Gishu senatorial seat but was unsuccessful after controversial UDA party primaries. He was later appointed to a position at State House.
