The Government has announced a nationwide series of open days to offer 4,888 affordable housing units under its Affordable Housing Program (AHP).
In a statement, Principal Secretary for the State Department for Housing and Urban Development Charles Hinga urged prospective homeowners to seize the opportunity during the holiday season and visit any of the 24 Affordable Housing Program sites spread across the country.
"We would like to invite you all to attend the open days scheduled to take place in Machakos and across our 23 other projects countrywide to view the showhouses on site and the various housing units near completion," he said.
For instance, the Machakos Affordable Housing project features a variety of options to meet the needs of different households, including 40 one-bedroom units, 60 two-bedroom units, and 60 three-bedroom units.
Hinga noted that the development includes generous green spaces for recreation, relaxation, and community leisure, as well as ample parking facilities for homeowners.

He also explained that the open days will serve as a platform for prospective homeowners to inspect housing units and showhouses and get information about the Affordable Housing Program.
Additionally, according to the PS, prospective homeowners will also get a chance to learn how to register on the BomaYangu portal and explore flexible payment options, including installment plans.
This comes two weeks after the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development announced the sale of 4,888 Affordable Housing units.
As detailed in an advert published on December 3, 2024, the housing projects consist of studio apartments, one one-bedroom to three-bedroom units.
Additionally, the Ministry detailed that the projects consist of houses that target Kenyans of all classes.
For instance, Social Housing targets Kenyans who earn below Ksh 20,000 while Affordable Housing targets Ksh 20,000-Ksh 149,000 earners.
The Affordable Middle-Class Housing targets Kenyans who earn above Kshb149,000.
