Machogu is said to have convened the meeting to quell simmering political tension in the Kisii region following the summoning of Matiang'i.
"The Education CS has an office there and he saw it fit to meet the leaders to iron out a few issues about the region going forward,” a source aware of the meeting told Nairobi Leo.
Elders John Simba and Steve Omenge represented the Gusii Council of Elders at the meeting.
During the meeting, Matiang'i is said to have set the record straight regarding his woes with the current administration.
He noted that his focus was now to work on his private activities saying that is why he has never attended political rallies or even a church function.
Sources told Nairobi Leo that he dismissed reports that he is interested in being the Azimio Leader maintaining that he is just focused on his private life.
The meeting comes barely days after a State House meeting hosted by Ruto and attended by three Kisii MPs.
They include MPs Anthony Kibagendi (Kitutu Chache South), Patrick Osero (Borabu) and Dr Daniel Manduku (Nyaribari Masaba). The MPs were all elected on the ODM party ticket.
The three MPs had complained Machogu is sidelining them in many development issues in the region.
Ruto is expected to visit the Gusii region later this month during which he will also grace the homecoming ceremony of CS Ezekiel Machogu.
