The Azimio la Umoja coalition has claimed that Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has been under house arrest in his Karen home by security agencies since Tuesday.
Speaking to the media on Friday, July 21, National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi asked the authorities to allow Kalonzo to enjoy his freedom.
“Kalonzo Musyoka's freedom has been curtailed since Tuesday evening. We hope that whoever is responsible will desist from the same and allow him to enjoy his freedom of movement going forward,” he stated.
Former Ndaragwa Member of Parliament Jeremiah Kioni at the same press conference condemned the government for denying Kalonzo his freedom of movement.
“It is useful to ask those in authority to allow people to have their freedom, curtailing people’s freedom is not useful and it’s not in pour constitution. It is amazing how quickly we can lose all the gains that we got through our 2010 constitution,” said Kioni.

Paloma Gatabaki, who is the communications lead at SKM Command Centre, has confirmed that the former Vice President has been placed under house arrest.
"Yes, it is true that Kalonzo Musyoka has been under house arrest since Tuesday evening. The subarus and land rovers have been stationed outside his Karen residence preventing him from leaving," Gatabaki told this journalist.
This comes a day after Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua chided Azimio's top leadership for skipping the anti-government protests.
Speaking in Isiolo on Thursday, Gachagua said the opposition leaders failed to appear because the protests did not go as they had planned.
"Those people saw things had gone sideways and no one dared to step into Nairobi CBD. One of them hid in the Nairobi hospital, pretending to be admitted, while others remained in their homes then they sent other people’s children to be killed. Why can't they come themselves or send their own children?" Gachagua posed.
