KPLC Announces Power Outages in 9 Counties on Wednesday

Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions in nine counties on Wednesday, September 16.

In a notice on Tuesday, September 15, Kenya Power said the planned outages will affect parts of Nairobi, Kajiado, Kericho, Kisumu, Kirinyaga, Tharaka Nithi, Nyeri, Meru and Kiambu counties.

In Nairobi, parts of Loresho will be affected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The affected areas include Kaptagat Road, Thego Lane, Lions, Coopers Shinyaru Road, Qaribu Inn, Waiyaki Way, Loresho Primary, Loresho Ridge, Kibagare Way and the Police Training School, among adjacent customers.

In Kajiado County, Chuna, Police Sacco and Kimalat will experience an interruption from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Areas listed include St. Lliana, Polar Junior, Deliverance Road, Baraka Road, Balozi Road, New Valley, Upper Valley, Chuna Estate, Safaricom 1 and 2, Yukos, Utumishi, Police Sacco Estate, Muigai, Kimalat, New Light and East Africa University, as well as adjacent customers.

In Kericho County, parts of Changoi will be without electricity from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The interruption will affect the Changoi Tea Factory Water Pump and adjacent customers.

In Kisumu County, power will be interrupted in Miguye from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The affected areas include Miguye Primary School, Miguye Village and adjacent customers.

In Kirinyaga County, Mucagara, Thumaita and Karumandi will experience an outage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The affected locations include Mucagara Market, Kiambogo, Gacam C/Fact, Kamugunda Market, parts of Kamweti Junction, Karumandi Market, Kiangombe Village and Guama Village, alongside adjacent customers.

In Tharaka Nithi County, Mubukuro Market and surrounding areas will be affected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The listed areas include Mubukuro Market, EAPC, PCEA Mubukuro, Mwenji Village and Kanoro Primary School, together with adjacent customers.

Nyeri County has two separate areas listed for the planned interruptions. 

Gitunduti Market and Itiati will be without power from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Itiati TBC, Gitunduti Market, Kianjuguma TBC, Gikore, Kihuri, Karatina University, Safaricom Boosters and Airtel Boosters, among adjacent customers.

Another section of Nyeri County covering VOK Booster and Mwenji will also experience an interruption during the same period. 

The affected areas include VOK Booster, Mwenji Village, Nyeri Hills and KBC Booster, alongside adjacent customers.

In Meru County, a wider area covering Maua, Kangeta, Muthara and Garbatula will experience a power interruption from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The affected locations include Kiegoi Tea Factory, Maua Water Works, Maua Sawmills, Maua Girls Secondary School, Maua Hospital, Kangeta Market, Karama Market, Maili Tatu, Kageta Girls, Burieruri Secondary School, M’Iringo Lodge, and Lare Market.

Others are Kabachi Market, Mutuati Health Centre, Tuuru Mission, Antubochiu Market, Kanuni Market, Kieni Kia Muti Market, Kiengu, Kawiro Market, Athirurujene Market, Antibetwe, Kaluli Market, KK Market, Maua Methodist, Athiru Gaitu, Kinaa, Chaina State and Garbatula, together with adjacent customers.

In Kiambu County, St. Linda, Gatong’ora and Kiratina will experience an outage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The affected areas include Gwa Kairu, Riverside, Thome, St. Linda, Gatong’ora, Vision Park, Kenya Project, part of Bypass, Miti Kenda, Karuguru, Mashinani, Kiratina Village, and Kiratina Primary School.

Section of Bypass Corner, Mutonya Dispensary, Kwa China, Sewage, Kwihota and Gituamba Water Project, as well as adjacent customers will also be affected.
