Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has weighed in on Uganda’s general election set for January 14, 2021, noting that African Union should prepare to invade the country after the polls close.
Kuria did not provide the rationale behind his tweet, but it may have been influenced by recent occurrences in the country, where opposition candidate Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has on several occasions been arrested and blocked form addressing his supporters.
“I am of the considered (PERSONAL) view that an African Union army led by Kenya should be ready to invade Uganda on Friday after the Thursday elections,” he tweeted.
On Tuesday, Bobi Wine was forced to cut short his interview with Kenya Hot 96 after the military reportedly invaded his home and assaulted his security team.

“So I am sorry even right now as we speak, we are being raided by the military. I have to end the interview because I can see soldiers beating up my security guards. I have to go down and give it attention,” he said.
Bobi Wine is popular among the youth who form a large chunk of voters in Uganda. This means that he stands a chance of ousting President Yoweri Museveni if the elections are held in a credible manner.
Meanwhile, social media channels and messaging applications have been blocked by the government as the country heads to the polls.
