Azimio la Umoja coalition spokesperson Makau Mutua has called for the resignation of Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni from Azimio’s technical team in the bipartisan talks.
In a statement on Saturday, September 23, Mutua took issue with Kioni’s recent remarks that the ongoing talks between the opposition and the government are a waste of time.
“My good friend Hon Kioni should with immediate effect resign as head of the Azimio technical team at the Bomas talks. He has repeatedly said the talks are a “waste of time.” He must resign unless he is a hypocrite. How can one lead a team in talks he doesn’t believe in?” he posed.
Mutua’s remarks come days after Kioni fiercely clashed with EALA MP Hassan Omar during the Bomas talks bringing the talks to a standstill for a moment.

Omar was angered by Kioni’s sentiments that the bipartisan talks will head to nowhere.
The former Ndaragwa MP on his part accused Omar of disrespecting the Kikuyu community.
"He has no respect for Jubilee and the Gikuyus in Jubilee. He believes we should not be seated there. If he asks tulileta Kura ngapi hiyo si ni kusema hatuna maana kuwa pale," he said.
The talks team leadership however downplayed the clash with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka who leads the Azimio team saying there is tremendous progress made.
