Deputy President William Ruto has responded to allegations
that he has abandoned his work as the principal assistant to the president, focusing
on other issues that do not fall under his docket.
Speaking at his Karen residence, DP Ruto noted that he has
not absconded duty, adding that he has accomplished all duties given to him by
his boss.
The DP hit out at his critics, noting that only his boss
President Uhuru Kenyatta can question his performance.
“No work has been given to me and I failed to execute… My
boss has not complained about my performance, who are they to complain about my
work? Who made them my supervisors?” he posed.

According to the DP, those supervising his work should quit
doing so and focus on their businesses, as he does not report to them.

The debate on the DP absconding his duties has been around
for quite some time, but climaxed on Monday when he snubbed the Covid-19
conference led by President Kenyatta.
Following his absence, a section of leaders allied to the President claimed that he was enjoying his salary but not performing duties assigned to him.
Over the past few months, he DP has been hosting delegations
at his Karen residence and empowering them (mostly unemployed youth and women) with
necessary equipment to help them earn a living.
The latest delegation was a group of women from Nairobi led by Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga and former Starehe MP Bishop Margaret Wanjiru.
