Standard Group Journalist Quits after 6 Years

KTN News senior news reporter Willy Lusige has ended his stint at the Standard Group-owned station.

The journalist, without explaining why he was exiting the media house, expressed the delight he had in having worked with amazing colleagues.

Lusige joined the station in 2017 where he was charged with, among other roles, researching and generating ideas for stories and features; and following leads from news agencies and other sources including the police.

He announced his departure on Friday, November 3.

"Great people, been 6 years at Standard Media Group as a reporter a KTN News. It is time to say goodbye. Grateful for the amazing colleagues, mentors, and friends I've met along the way. Ecclesiastes 3:1: "To everything, there is a season and a time to every purpose," he posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Before joining the Standard Group, Lusige had worked at Nation Media Group (NMG) as a digital sub-editor.

He is an alumnus of the Unversity of Nairobi where he undertook a Bachelor of Education (Arts) program.

The Mombasa Road-based media giant has been losing the top of its crew in the recent past.

A few months back, Business editor Aby Agina left KTN News after landing a bigger role at the multi-national station CNBC Africa.

He would be based in Rwanda.

He would serve as a senior anchor and producer at CNBC Africa.

CNBC Rwanda country manager Eugene Anangwe who worked as the CEO for TV47 and founded Look UP TV welcomed Agina to the TV station.

"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. I add if you want to even go further, build a team," Anangwe posted on his social media.

"Welcome to the team at CNBC Africa East Africa in the 2nd fastest growing economy in Africa; Kigali, Rwanda my brother Abiy Agina."
