The Kenya Red Cross has disclosed that no fatalities have been recorded yet after a landslide hit Kimende escarpments, Kiambu County, on Tuesday evening, May 14.
In an update on X, the humanitarian organization, however, intimated that several people were still uncounted for and the area had been cordoned off after being declared a danger zone.
"A landslide has occurred in the Kimende Escarpments of Kiambu County. The area has been cordoned off and declared a danger zone. Although no fatalities have been confirmed, several people remain unaccounted for," Kenya Red Cross stated.
The incident comes after a deadly landslide hit Mai Mahiu late last month, resulting in massive destruction of property and deaths of dozens of people.

This was as a result of the heavy rains that have continued to be experienced in many parts of the country.
In an update on Monday, May 13, Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura urged citizens to avoid mudslide-prone areas, especially in Central Kenya.
He disclosed that 277 people have so far lost their lives due to flooding.
"The government urges Kenyans to avoid mudslide-prone areas especially in Central Kenya, and Narok Counties. Sand harvesting has been banned in Kerio Valley due to the risky situation in the area. More rains is expected in the 32 counties within the Lake Victoria Basin and later on in the coastal region as from the 20th of this month," the government spokesperson stated.
