"First of all, the Finance Bill is discussed in the National Assembly, not in the Senate."

Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has sparked an online debate after she struggled to interpret the controversial Finance Bill 2024.

In the video, which has since gone viral on social media, Nyamu was asked for her general opinion on the bill.

The nominated UDA senator appeared to stutter as she described the Finance Bill as a matter for the National Assembly and not for the Senate.

"First of all, the Finance Bill is discussed in the National Assembly, not in the Senate. But what I know about the Kenya Kwanza administration, what we promised people on the ground is that the economy will be bottom up," said Nyamu.

She went on to claim that the Kenya Kwanza government was targeting rich Kenyans while giving relief to ordinary citizens in the 2024 Finance Bill.

"You're crying that Ruto is taxing us a lot, and at the same time, he has removed the tax for the lower-income people and increased it for those importing beds. Why are you complaining about something that doesn't even concern you? Find out what this Finance Bill says, there is a tax increase, does it concern you?” Nyamu posed.
