Sudi was facing charges of forging his academic certificates.

A Nairobi anti-corruption court has acquitted Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi of charges of forging academic certificates.

In acquitting Sudi, Magistrate Felix Kombo said the prosecution had failed to prove the charges against the UDA lawmaker.

He noted that the failure to adduce substantial evidence against Sudi could not enable the court to make a determination in the forgery case.

Kombo also faulted the investigative agencies on how they obtained some of the evidence against Sudi.

The judge questioned the credibility of some of the evidence in the case, which was obtained at a hotel.

Sudi was facing nine charges related to forging his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and Diploma in Business Management certificates and making a false declaration to officials while seeking clearance from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to contest the 2013 general elections.

The Kapseret MP was also accused of making a false declaration under oath through a self-declaration form to the IEBC at Barng'etuny Plaza in Eldoret in 2015, contrary to section 46 of the Leadership and Integrity Act.
