A motorist in Kiambu is recovering at the Thika Level 5 Hospital while awaiting arraignment after his botched rape attempt.
Identified as Peter Gitau Kimani, the man lured a 22-year-old lady into his car, purporting to offer her a lift.
She was on her way home from the Kaburigi trading centre.
The young woman acceded to the offer and boarded the vehicle oblivious to Gitau's ill motives.

A few moments into the woman boarding the car, the man turned against her and strived to assault her sexually, according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
In the face of the attack, the woman braved herself and fought off the man.
She faced off Gitau while screaming, before succeeding in unlocking the vehicle out of which she hopped.
The 22-year-old proceeded to the Kandara Police Station whose officers started investigations into the matter.
On noting the investigators were trailing him, Gitau reportedly imbibed poison.
As he neared death, the officers showed up at his house and rushed him to the hospital, where he is currently recuperating.
The DCI stated that once discharged, Gitau would be charged accordingly in an open court.
