The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary closure of a section of Mombasa Road at Lake Oil Petrol Station for a period of one week.

In a notice on Saturday, June 15, by KeNHA Director General Eng. Kung'u Ndungu, the section, which is four kilometres from Malili Town while heading to Mombasa, will remain closed from Saturday, June 15, at midnight to Sunday, June 23, at 6:00 am.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to inform the public that there will be a temporary closure of a section of Mombasa Road (A8), Mombasa bound lanes at Lake Oil (Konza) Petrol Station, which is 4km from Malili Town while heading to Mombasa. This closure will commence from Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 12.00 midnight to Sunday, June 23, 2024, at 6:00am," Eng. Ndungu stated.

The KeNHA boss disclosed that the closure was to allow maintenance works along the section, adding that one lane will remain in operation during the exercise.

"One lane will be closed while the other will remain in operation. During the closure of the Nairobi bound lane, motorists heading to Nairobi will use the diversion as the Mombasa bound lane operates normally," Eng. Ndungu added.

He further intimated that during the closure of the Mombasa bound lane, motorists heading to Mombasa will be diverted to the Nairobi bound lane through the section while Nairobi bound traffic continues to use the diversion.

Ndungu asked motorists to approach the section with caution while following traffic signs and guidance from traffic marshals on the site.

KeNHA has been temporarily closing sections along the highway in the past few weeks to allow for maintenance.
