Magdalene Kamene Nguluku, a nominated Member of the County Assembly (MCA) of Makueni County, has died.

In a statement on Wednesday, June 19, by Tourism Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua, the late MCA passed away at a Nairobi hospital where she had been taken ill.

According to Mutua, Kamene had been nominated by the Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) Party and she was also the wife of the late Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile.

"It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of Hon. Magdalene Kamene Nguluku Kalembe. Hon. Magdalene was the beloved wife of the late Hon. Kalembe Ndile, former MP for Kibwezi Constituency and Party Leader of The Independent Party (TIP).

"At the time of her passing, she was serving as a nominated Member of the County Assembly of Makueni under the Maendeleo Chap Chap Party," Dr. Mutua stated.

He added that the deceased fell ill last week and was being treated for dengue fever.

"Hon. Magdalene fell ill late last week and was hospitalized at a Nairobi City Hospital, where she was being treated for dengue fever," Mutua remarked.

The CS passed his condolences to the late legislator's family and friends, adding that further information would follow after consultations with the family.

"May our Lord grant her soul eternal peace," the CS stated.
