Duale was worth Sh851 million in October 2022.

Environment Cabinet Secretary Nominee Aden Duale has increased in net worth by Sh 129 million.

Appearing before the National Assembly’s appointments committee on Friday, August 2, Duale revealed that his net worth has increased to Sh 980 million.

During his vetting in October 2022, Duale said he was then worth Sh851 million.

Duale noted that his net worth is comprised of parcels of land, houses, a cattle ranch, rental property, camels, motor vehicles, and shares in his family's business.

The Environment CS nominee also noted that he made revenue from book sales of his autobiography.

“My net worth as of today is Sh980 million, I have pieces of land both in Garissa and Nairobi. My house in Nairobi, my house in Garissa, my cattle ranch in Garissa, my rental property in Nairobi and Garissa, my shares in family-owned business, my camels and cattle and motor vehicles, and revenue from the book sales of my autobiography,” said Duale.

He explained that the increase in his net worth was a result of appreciation of the value of land and real estate properties.

Duale also mentioned that his livestock grew in number as a result of the good rains experienced in the country.

“Both for land and real estate property, usually the appreciation increases between 12 to 15 percent so if you calculate Sh 851 million by 12 percent or 15 percent that growth will be about Sh 140 million. We also had very good rains and my livestock grew in number,” Duale explained.

The former Garissa Town MP is among the Cabinet Secretaries that were retained in the cabinet. Duale was initially nominated to be Defence docket which he served from 2022 but President William Ruto reassigned him to the Ministry of Environment.
