Kenya Power has announced that it will carry out scheduled power interruptions across seven counties on Sunday, July 13.

In a statement on Saturday, July 12, the company listed various regions in Kisumu, Siaya, Busia, Kakamega, Nyeri, Meru, and Mombasa counties that will experience temporary blackouts.

In Kisumu County, residents of Sondu Market, including Nyakachi Girls School, Sondu Town, Sigoti, Gari, and Nyabondo Hospital, will be without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 

In the Ombeyi area, an outage is expected between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. affecting areas including Mayfair Bakery, Ombeyi Market, and nearby schools and villages, 

Siaya County will experience shorter outages, with areas such as Siaya Town, Rangala, Bondo, Nyamninia, Yala, Maseno, and Ugunja set to be affected between 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

Similarly, in Busia County, parts of Malaba, Mundika, Busia Town, Butula, Nambale, and Sioport will have their power supply interrupted during the same time window.

In Kakamega County, the outage will affect Mumias Town and surrounding areas including the Mumias Sugar Factory, Shianda, Butere, Bukura, and Khwisero from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

In Nyeri County, Karatina Town and Karindundu will be without power from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The outage will impact key institutions and facilities such as Karatina Girls Secondary School, Karatina Police Station, several hospitals including Jamii and Blue Spring, supermarkets, residential estates, and communication infrastructure including Safaricom and Airtel boosters.

Meru County is also set for a full-day outage from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. affecting the areas of Kaaga, Kithoka, and Nkoune. 

Additionally, institutions like Meru Teachers College, Kaaga Girls High School, Freds Academy, KEMU University, and several banks, petrol stations, and radio stations will be impacted.

In Mombasa County, Shimanzi and Makande will go offline from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting major businesses and infrastructure such as KPA, VIVO Energy, TATA Chemicals, Ideal Ceramics, and the Grain Industries. 

Miritini area will also experience a full-day blackout during the same hours, affecting companies like Weldcon, Transtrailers, Simba EPZ, and Petrocity.
