The Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli has cautioned the public that criminals are planning to infiltrate Thursday's Nane Nane demonstrations.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, August 7, at NPS Headquarters in Nairobi, Masengeli said that adequate security personnel had been deployed but advised members of the public to take extra caution while in crowded areas that are likely to turn riotous.
The Acting IG urged Kenyans planning to exercise their right to picket to comply with the attendant laws.
He also warned Kenyans against contravening the Kenya Civil Aviation Act and Protected Areas Act by avoiding trespass of protected areas such as Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and State House/Lodges.

This comes barely hours after President William Ruto said that peace should prevail and called on Kenyans to reject destructive demonstrations.
"We are a country that believes in peace. We do not want chaos in our nation Kenya. We do not want demonstrations that bring death and loss of property, we want peace," Ruto stated.
At the same time, a section of youth have vowed to proceed with today's protests in what they term as liberating Kenya from poorer governance.
The youth, led by outspoken political activist Kasmuel McOure, made the declaration on Wednesday saying it will be the mother of all demonstrations.
“Nane Nane is going to be our final day in the streets. We will go to the streets because the Kenya Kwanza regime has taken everything we had. We have elucidated very well what our demands have been," McOure affirmed.
