I will be back and the sun will continue to shine down upon us - Kipchoge.

The World's greatest marathoner Eliud Kipchoge has penned a message to his fans following his performance at the Olympic marathon in Paris 2024.

Kipchoge, for the first time in his marathon career, pulled a 'DNF' in the marathon.

Addressing the performance in a statement on Sunday, August 11, Kipchoge said that it was a tough loss for him labelling it as the 'worst marathon' he's ever had.

"When you are ready to lay it all on the line, to achieve something that has never been done before - one must simply accept when the tree of life does not grant you the fruits of your labour.

"Yesterday marks a tough loss for me as I have worked towards this goal with every bit of devotion within me. I want to share my congratulations to Tamirat Tola on a very strong race today and on becoming an Olympic Champion. It’s the most special feeling in the world and I hope you are so proud of this achievement," he stated.

However, the legendary marathoner promised that he would be back and thanked fans for their support.

"I want to say a heartfelt thank you to the many fans on the course today and around the world for your endless love and support. I hope you know how much it means to me. I will be back and the sun will continue to shine down upon us," he added.

Kipchoge, who was the two-time defending Olympic champion participating in his fifth Olympics, is now 39 years of age.
