Kiambu Senator Karungo Wa Thang'wa has denied claims by Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah that Kiambu lawmakers were consulted in the appointment of Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Andrew Mwihia Karanja.
In a statement on Wednesday, September 4, Thang'wa said that it was misleading for Ichung'wah to make the claims, adding that he was not invited in the process.
He went ahead to affirm that if he was invited for the process, he would not have proposed the name of the CS claiming he was not familiar with him.
"As an MP representing Kiambu County as their Senator, I want to clarify that I was not consulted in the selection of the new Cabinet Secretary from our county, nor was I invited to participate in that process.
"It is misleading for the Kikuyu MP to suggest that all Kiambu MPs were involved. If I had been consulted, I would not have proposed the current CS for Agriculture, as I am not familiar with him. (This is not to mean he won't/can't perform or either they made right or wrong choice)," Thang'wa remarked.

The senator further claimed that if he was consulted, he could have recommended the names of former Public Service CS Moses Kuria and former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu among others.
"While ODM put forward notable names such as Joho, Oparanya, Mbadi, and Wandayi, I could have recommended prominent figures from Kiambu, including Moses Kuria, Kabogo, Waititu, Nyoro, Maara, Waikenda, Jungle, Wakanyi etc. In summary, I did not attend the meeting organized by Ichung'wah regarding the selection process for Kiambu," Thang'wa remarked.
On Monday, September 2, the National Assembly Majority Leader claimed that President William Ruto had asked the Kiambu lawmakers to find him a candidate for the Agriculture position.
"When President Ruto was reappointing the cabinet, he asked us, Kiambu MPs, to find a candidate for the Agriculture CS post and we did so," he stated.
