Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two suspects linked to a series of violent robberies involving pangas and motorcycles in Mombasa County.
In a statement on Tuesday, September 17, DCI said the suspects, Mohammed Ibrahim Shaban, 22, and Abdulaziz Ali Ogutu, 19, were caught at their hideout in Utange village, where they were allegedly planning another attack.
"The duo is believed to be behind a series of panga attacks including a violent robbery resulting in a fatal incident on July 18, 2024. They are also linked to three separate robberies on September 14, 2024, in Majengo, Makupa, and Tononoka," DCI said in a statement.
The two suspects are believed to have conducted a spate of robberies where the victims were attacked with pangas, including one incident that occurred on July 18, 2024, which turned fatal.

Following their arrest, the DCI recovered a panga, three knives, two mobile phones, two backpacks, and one ID card belonging to one Yusuf Amani Yusuf.
The items are suspected to be connected with their criminal activities.
