9 People Injured as Bus Carrying Passengers Plunges Into Indian Ocean [Photos]

Nine people have been injured after a Chania Executive bus carrying passengers plunged into the Indian Ocean at the Likoni Ferry crossing channel in Mombasa.
Confirming the incident on Sunday morning, October 6, the Kenya Red Cross disclosed that seven of the victims were treated at the scene, while two were taken to the hospital.
According to the humanitarian organization, its volunteers based at the Likoni Ferry aided in the rescue operations in collaboration with the police and Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).
"Red Cross volunteers based at the Rescue Center at the Likoni Ferry, in collaboration with the National Police, Kenya Ferry and the Kenya Ports Authority, responded to an emergency involving a bus at the Likoni Channel earlier today.
"Nine people were injured: seven were treated at the scene, while two were taken to the hospital," Kenya Red Cross stated.
The bus was crossing over from the mainland to Ukunda when the incident occurred.
It is not the first time such an incident is happening at the Likoni Ferry crossing channel.
On Sunday, January 10, 2021, a Pollmans tour passenger bus plunged into the Indian Ocean at the channel.
The incident was due to a mishap as it was embarking on the ferry from the mainland to the island side.
All passengers who had boarded the bus were successfully rescued following the incident.
