Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Saturday evening, October 12, made his first public appearance since he was impeached by the National Assembly.
In photos and videos seen by Nairobile.co.ke, Gachagua was spotted at The Hub Mall in Karen and he appeared jovial and in high spirits as he interacted with Kenyans.
The deputy president, who was accompanied by his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, freely mingled with the public, who even took selfies with the couple.
At one point, Gachagua was even spotted joining in a dance with a section of the Kenyans who had turned up at the shopping mall, much to the delight of onlookers who cheered him on.

The deputy president later proceeded to have ice cream with his wife at the facility.
His public appearance comes as he prepares to face the Senate on Wednesday, October 16 and Thursday, October 17 to defend himself.
Senate Speaker Amason Kingi stated that the deputy president will face the senate plenary after a motion to form an 11-member committee to hear his charges failed.
"The motion having been deemed to be withdrawn pursuant to Standing Orders 70 (1), the proposal for a special committee is defeated. The senate will therefore proceed with the investigation on the proposed removal from office by impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua in plenary," Kingi stated on October 9.
Gachagua was impeached on Tuesday last week after 281 MPs voted in support of his impeachment motion, 44 against, and 1 abstained.
11 charges, including gross misconduct and gross violation of the constitution, were brought against the deputy president.
Meanwhile, the High Court has referred a petition challenging Gachagua's impeachment to Chief Justice Martha Koome, stating that the impeachment raised weighty constitutional questions.
