KANU chairman Gideon Moi has called on the government to step up its efforts to guarantee the safety and security of every Kenyan amid surging cases of murder in the country.
In a statement on Thursday, October 24, Gideon maintained that there must be a renewed focus on securing public spaces and improving law enforcement.
According to the KANU leader, every Kenyan has a right to live without and that it is the government's role to ensure the right is protected.
"The country is witnessing a deeply disturbing and heartbreaking surge in brutal murders of Kenyans. These rampant femicide cases and macabre killings, abetted by the now-commonplace abductions, are creeping back into the country and striking at the very core of our sense of security as a nation.
"Therefore, the government must now step up its efforts to guarantee the safety and security of every Kenyan. There must be a renewed focus on securing public spaces and improving law enforcement. Every Kenyan has the right to live without fear, and it is the government’s duty to ensure this right is protected at all costs," he remarked.

Gideon further emphasized that no one should live in fear or feel unsafe while going about their daily lives, whether walking through the streets or engaging in routine activities.
The KANU leader also extended his condolences to the bereaved families.
His remarks come just hours after Wells Fargo's human resource manager went missing on Friday, October 18, was found dead.
Willis Ayieko's body was found on Wednesday near a stream in Yala, Siaya County, and according to the police, it had visible injuries.
On Monday, October 14, nominated Kirinyaga MCA Lucy Njeri's 23-year-old daughter was found dead at a rented house in Thika, Kiambu County.
Njeri disclosed that the body of her daughter, Seth Nyakio Njeri, had visible injuries on the neck.
Similarly, Della Anole Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Yussuf Hussein Ahmed, who was abducted by armed assailants in Nairobi on September 13, was found dead over a month later.
Ahmed's mutilated body found in Lake Yamud within Wajir County and his family positively identified him.
