Foreign Embassies in Kenya have flagged a viral statement announcing a travel ban against impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as fake.

In response to the viral statement, Kenyans were urged to ignore the fake statement as it did not emanate from the foreign embassies.

Some of the embassies that flagged the statement include Belgium, the United States, and Finland among others.

As alleged in the fake statement, various foreign embassies had jointly decided to announce sanctions against Gachagua over his impeachment.

Among the actions that had been listed in the fake statement was that travel ban to the US, Canada and over 20 countries in Europe.

On the other hand, it was alleged that the embassies lauded the impeachment noting that it set precedence for other countries.

Gachagua was impeached by the National Assembly and the Senate after weeks of proceedings.

Some of the accusations levelled against Gachagua included undermining government policies and gross violation of the constitution through propagating tribalism among others.

Following the decision of impeachment, UDA deputy party leaders moved to court to challenge the decision of Parliament.
