"It is the prerogative of the president to decide."

Nyaribari Masaba Member of Parliament Daniel Manduku has claimed that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has fronted National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed to be the next Interior Cabinet Secretary.

Speaking on Friday, October 25, Manduku claimed that it is up to President William Ruto to make a decision on the name.

“We (ODM) have fronted Junet Mohamed. We have given his name for the Interior CS position. It may work or not. It is the prerogative of the president to decide and the final decision lies with him," Manduku claimed.

His remarks come after the National Assembly on Friday, October 18, approved Kithure Kindiki as the next deputy president after Rigathi Gachagua was impeached.

This is happening even as petitions challenging the impeachment of Gachagua are being heard by the High Court.

Meanwhile, on Monday, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah affirmed that he is not eyeing to replace Kindiki as the next Interior CS.

Ichung'wah noted that he has a job to do in the National Assembly and was not interested in becoming a CS.

"I have heard a leader suggesting here that I should become the Interior CS. But I want to tell that leader that I have a job and I don't want people to get confused.

"I am not interested in the CS job. I have a job that I was given by Kikuyu constituents and these MPs also gave me a job as their leader in the National Assembly. And that is the job I pray to continue with," Ichung'wah remarked.
