US Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman has detailed initiatives the US has taken over the recent police abductions and deaths witnessed in the June protests.
Speaking during an engagement with students of the University of Eldoret on Wednesday, October 30, the diplomat revealed that they had been engaging with the government on the matter.
In particular, Whitman indicated that an official from the Biden administration came to Kenya and met the President over the concerns.
On the other hand, she noted that the US had jointly issued a statement with other diplomatic caucuses to condemn the deaths and call for accountability of the police.

"As the protests continued we were quite clear on supporting free speech and holding police accountable for abductions. We issued a joint statement with other heads of missions.
"We have had our Deputy of Human Rights in the State Department come and meet the President."
Meanwhile, the diplomat divulged that the US had also been working behind the scenes to ensure that police who contravene the law are held to account.
"We have been working behind the scenes to encourage free speech and accountability of police as well as a reduction of disappearances," she added.
According to human rights organisations, over 60 people died during the June protests while several others were injured.
On the other hand, concerns have been raised over the recent abductions that have been undertaken by plain-clothed officers.
