Impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has pleaded with Kenyans, more so, his supporters to maintain peace regardless of the outcome of the court petition.

Speaking during a funeral service in Limuru on Wednesday October 30, Gachagua noted that the country needed to remain peaceful at all times.

He called on Kenyans not to be divided by the impeachment process, further expressing confidence in the courts.

"We have faith that the judiciary will uphold the constitution of Kenya and will exercise fairness and will give justice to Rigathi Gachagua and his supporters," he remarked.

"I want to ask for peace. More so to my people of the Mt Kenya region. Remain peaceful and love one another. Stay together with other communities. They have not wronged us. Kenya is bigger than all of us."

On the other hand, he hit out at some of his critics who he opined were expecting violence after the impeachment in Parliament.

"We are not people who go to the streets, We are people who keep quiet and wait for the day when we shall speak as required (elections)," he stated.

Gachagua is challenging his impeachment at the High Court with a three-judge bench expected to give a ruling on the conservatory orders that were issued to him.

The ruling to be delivered by Justices Eric Ogola, Freda Mugambi and Anthony Mrima on Thuesday, October 31, will determine whether a Kithure Kindiki will be sworn in as the next DP.
