President William Ruto has claimed that some churches in the country do not have many qualified religious leaders.
Speaking on Friday, November 15, during a graduation ceremony at Tangaza University in Nairobi, President Ruto disclosed that he has visited many churches and there were not enough qualified clergy.
The Head of State went ahead to request the institution to help in training the clergy to ensure Christianity was founded on a strong understanding of the gospel.
“Because this institution is run by the Catholic church, I want to make a request because I have been to many denominations by virtue of the work I do and I find that in some of the churches they do not have as many qualified clergy.
"I want to ask Tangaza that, recognizing that many other faiths also believe in the holy Catholic church, that you also help train clergy for other churches so that our Christianity is founded on solid understanding and knowledge of the word of God,” President Ruto stated.

He further urged the clergy to work together with Kenyans towards building the nation.
“And even as we engage in public discourse, we must be careful to be factual lest we become the victims of the things we accuse others,” Ruto remarked.
The president's remarks come hours after Catholic bishops hit out at the government over what they termed a 'culture of lies.'
While addressing a press conference on Thursday, November 14, the Catholic clergy warned President William Ruto that Kenyans were losing faith in his administration.
"The culture of lies is swiftly replacing the integrity and respect that Kenyans deserve. Basically, it is seen that the truth does not exist and if it does, it is what the government says," read part of their statement.
The bishops cautioned the government over the latest tax proposals and also called upon government agencies to address the rising cases of insecurity.
In a rejoinder, various government ministries, including Health and Education, dismissed some of the claims made by the clergy that touched on some government initiatives.
