The CS revealed that the foreign country had ordered 3 million doses of the vaccines.

Agriculture CS Andrew Karanja has allayed fears over the vaccines to be used by the government in the nationwide exercise in 2025.

While addressing the media on Friday, December 13, the CS revealed that the vaccines were made in Kenya and had been used in other countries.

Karanja stated that 13 countries in Africa including Uganda had already ordered and used the vaccines, hence no cause for alarm.

"The Kenya Veterinary Vaccines Production Institute which is based in Industrial areas and Limuru have been producing these vaccines for the last 15 years," he stated.

"We have been selling these vaccines to our neighbouring countries like Uganda. These are safe vaccines that have been tested and tried. It is not something we are getting from outside. Currently, Uganda has ordered 3 million doses."

The CS also acknowledged that Kenyans had raised various concerns regarding the vaccines, adding that the government will be engaging various stakeholders before the exercise.

"I know that there are concerns and we will engage with the stakeholders and deal with those issues. Therefore, I urge for calmness," he stated.

On the other hand, he also explained that the government wanted the vaccination to be a nationwide exercise given that animals do cross over from one county to another.

Therefore, the nationwide exercise will guarantee the safety of all livestock from diseases.
