Police in Nyakach, Kisumu County, have been directed to shoot to kill due to the rising cases of insecurity that have resulted in the death of one person.
Speaking to the press on Saturday, December 14, Nyakach Deputy County Commissioner Job Adunda confirmed the order disclosing that suspected cattle rustlers have been intent on killing innocent people and stealing their livestock.
Adunda directed police officers to shoot and kill anyone found armed with the intent to harm innocent people.
The police chief noted that multiple warnings had already been issued but were ignored.
"They are intent on killing our people and stealing our livestock and they are not heeding to our warnings. We have said and we have given instructions to our security officers to shoot to kill those who are armed and have the intent to kill innocent people," Adunda remarked.

His order came after one person was killed on Thursday, December 12, by suspected cattle rustlers in the Nyanza region area.
Meanwhile, Kisumu East OCPD Edward Masibo recalled all police officers on annual leave to bolster security in the region.
This followed the arrest of four robbery suspects on Friday, December 13, and the seizure of several items during an operation by security agencies.
"We have recalled all officers who were on annual leave for synergy. We do not want any criminals and so far we are happy with the members of the public who are giving us reports," Masibo stated.
