Six people have been confirmed dead after being involved in an accident on Saturday evening, December 14.
The crash involving a school bus and matatu occurred at a spot in the Olonini area along the Narok-Bomet Highway.
Police confirmed the accident.
According to the officers who showed up at the scene, the bus belonging to Mesabisabi Secondary School caused the accident.
They said that the driver of the bus en route to Bomet from Narok was carelessly overtaking before ramming into an oncoming Narok Line Services matatu.
Three passengers of the matatu died on the spot; three others succumbed to their injuries while on treatment at the Ololunha Hospital.
Twenty-six others were injured, with 10 suffering severe wounds.
The 26 were admitted to the Narok County Referral Hospital, to whose morgue the bodies were ferried.
The accident came days after the national government announced measures for citizens' safety during the festivities.
Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo declared that traffic police officers would be deployed on the ground to enforce road safety, adding that partnerships with community policing groups have been strengthened to improve intelligence sharing.
Traffic officers on leave were recalled to duty to reinforce the traffic rules to avert road accidents.
