Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has unveiled sweeping changes in the county's executive team.

In a statement on Wednesday, January 22, Bii noted that the reorganization is aimed at boosting efficiency and ensuring better governance in line with provisions of the County Government Act. 

The governor announced new assignments for various County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) and Chief Officers (COs)

Micah Kipkosgei Rogony will now head the Finance and Economic Planning department while Elijah Kipngetich Kogsey has been assigned to the Education, Technical Training, Gender, Social Protection and Culture docket. 

Dr. Kut Sam Kipkemboi Kogo will take charge of Agriculture, Agribusiness, Livestock, and Fisheries, while Eng. Joseph Kiplagat Lagat will oversee Roads, Transport, and Public Works. 

On the other hand, Abraham Kipkemoi Serem will now serve as the head of Health Services, Eng. Martha Cheruto will lead Trade, Industrialization, Tourism, Cooperatives, and Enterprise Development, and Edward Kiprono Sawe will manage Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development. 

Anthony Cheruiyot Sitenei has been assigned to Water, Sanitation, Energy, Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change, while Eng. Lucy Ngendo Njoroge will now head Youth Affairs, Sports, ICT, and Innovation.

In addition, some chief officers have been reassigned including Eliud Kipkoir Chemaget who will now head Finance, Nathan Korir takes charge of Economic Planning, Elijah Koech who will oversee Water, Irrigation, and Sanitation, and Dr. Paul Wangwe Ongeti who is assigned to Promotive and Preventive Health. 

Bii also directed that Joyce Sang will manage Clinical Services, Mark Some will be in charge of Environment, Energy, and Climate Change, while Ambrose Tarus Kiprotich will lead Devolution and Administration. 

Additionally, Ruth Samoei will take over Public Service Management, Julius Koech will manage Housing and Urban Development, and Abdirahman Mohammed Sankok will be assigned to Partnerships, Liaison, and Linkages.

Eunice Jemutai Setur will oversee Education and Vocational Training, Geoffrey Kirwa Tanui will manage Roads, Transport, and Public Works, and Elphas Kesio will take charge of Agriculture and Agribusiness.

Further, Bii emphasized the importance of staff performance appraisals, and as part of this process, several senior officers have been sent on one-month compulsory leave. 

They include Dr. Janet Chemeli Kosgei, the CECM for Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Mary Kirich, the CO for Environment, Energy and Climate Change, Abraham Kiplamai Buret, the CO for Roads, Transport and Public Works and Felix Kimaru, the CO for ICT, E-Government and Innovation.

Others are Victorine Jepkogei Kipkui, the CO for Trade, Investment, Industrialization and Tourism, Marion Birgen, the CO for Education and Vocational Training, Nixon Chepngeno, the CO for Livestock and Fisheries, Hannah Jelagat Tirop, the CO for Public Service Management and Nicholas Chepkowny, the Chief of Staff.

In the interim, various acting appointments have been made. 

Micah Kipkosgei Rogony will serve as Acting CECM for Devolution and Administration, Eliud Kipkoir Chemaget will act as CO for ICT, E-Government, and Innovation, and Nathan Korir will take over as Acting CO for Trade, Investment, Industrialization and Tourism. 

Edward Kiprono Sawe will act as CO for Cooperatives and Enterprise Development, Eunice Jemutai Setur will serve as Acting CO for Culture, Gender and Social Protection and Elphas Kesio will take on the role of Acting CO for Livestock and Fisheries.

Governor Bii also introduced two new appointees to his office, announcing that Johnstone Kottut will serve as the Economic Advisor and Dr. Pius Kiplimo Chumba as Chief of Staff.

The changes take effect immediately.
