A member of parliament allied to the Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday confronted Interior CS Fred Matiang'i during a church service in Kisii.
The MP who said he does not wish to resort to abusing the powerful cabinet secretary said it was backward for leaders to play intimidation politics.
Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose, a DP Ruto ally, made the remarks in the face of the CS who was sitting pretty in a tiny plastic chair with his arms resting-easy on his tummy as the congregation cheered.
"I will not go to a public gathering to abuse you. This is something I have decided to do because I believe in respect.
"I know there are people who want to play politics of intimidating others. Let me tell you, that type of politics has been overtaken by events," the MP told Matiang'i at the Omogwa SDA Church.

He went on to state that they will not be intimidated. He said leaders needed to accommodate and support one another and the right decisions will be made as the days go by.
This came in the wake of a series of incidences where police have been used to scatter gatherings organised by the Deputy President's allies in Kisii and Nyamira Counties.
DP Ruto's allies in the area led by MPs Sylvanus Osoro, Vincent Kemosi and the Kisii County Deputy Governor Dr. Joash Maangi had planned to host the DP in Kebirigo and Kenyenya.
The events were scuttled by police who used teargas to disperse members of the public who had gathered at Kebirigo Primary ahead of the fundraiser.
Officer arrived at the venue in large numbers and brought down all tents that had been erected at the event forcing the MPs to postpone the events to Friday and Thursday, October 15, 2020.
