Nelson Havi: Dr Fred Matiang’i should now direct the popularization of BBI through Zoom rallies to avoid continued spread of Covid-19. No muting of the audience. Let everyone participate. This even better to avoid permits and violent physical confrontations as has been the case lately

Law Society of Kenya President Nelson Havi has urged the Ministry of Interior to ban public rallies aimed at sensitizing Kenyans on the Building Bridges initiative (BBI) Constitutional amendment push.

In a tweet, Havi requested Ministry of Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i to issue a direct that all BBI sensitization meeting be held via zoom.

He argued that the cases of Covid-19 are increasing in the country and as such it is not appropriate to have public gatherings.

According to Havi all Kenyans should be allowed to attend those zoom meetings with no muting to allow for contribution from everyone.

He further noted that using the Zoom platform will reduce confrontations regarding clearance for public meetings.

“Dr Fred Matiang’i should now direct the popularization of BBI through Zoom rallies to avoid continued spread of Covid-19. No muting of the audience. Let everyone participate. This even better to avoid permits and violent physical confrontations as has been the case lately,” he tweeted.
