Law Society of Kenya President Nelson Havi has stated that the caretaker committee appointed by Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed to oversee all football operations in the country, is null and void.
This is after the state on Thursday, November 25, 2021, withdrew graft charges it had pressed against embattled Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa.
Mwendwa was facing corruption, and abuse of office charges over the use of Ksh430 million advanced to FKF, which the Sports, Arts, and Social Development had assigned to manage football activities.

Havi argued that if the charges preferred by the state were not enough to sustain a prosecution, then the committee appointed by CS Amina is null and void.
"If the grounds upon which FKF President Nick Mwendwa and his Committee were unlawfully removed from office cannot sustain a criminal prosecution, the Caretaker Committee put in place by CS Sports has no legs to stand on or hands to fall with. It is null and void," he stated.
CS Amina appointed the caretaker committee led by Retired Chief Justice Aaron Ringera and a secretariat to oversee football operations for six months after which it would hand over to new leadership at FKF.
The Sports CS made the move after she received a report from the Sports Registrar indicating mismanagement at FKF.
