An opinion poll result by Infotrak Research released on Thursday, July 21, has revealed the popular candidates in Mombasa County ahead of the August general election.
In the gubernatorial race, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party candidate Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir was leading with a popularity of 50 percent.
Wiper Party’s Mike Mbuvi Sonko came in second with a popularity of 22 percent while Hassan Omar of UDA was third with a popularity of 9 percent.
In the senatorial race, incumbent Mohamed Faki Mwinyihaji was leading with a popularity of 35 percent while Hamisi Mwaguya of UDA was second with 8 percent.

However, there were a huge number of undecided voters in the senatorial race as 51 percent of respondents in the poll were undecided.
The poll was conducted through Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATI) in the period between July 9 and July 19, 2022.
The poll by Infotrak also revealed the leading candidates in the presidential race in Mombasa County.
According to the poll, Azimio’s Raila Odinga was leading in early July with a popularity of 44 percent while UDA’s William Ruto was second with a popularity of 27 percent.
The poll further revealed that in mid-July, the former Prime Minister gained popularity garnering 59 percent while the Deputy President’s popularity dropped to 25 percent.
