The former Nairobi Governor was seemingly not impressed with President William Ruto riding on a bus in London.
President William Ruto on Monday, September 19, arrived in the United Kingdom (UK) for the burial of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
In a photo seen by Nairobi Leo, President Ruto boarded a bus in London to move to the venue of the burial of the longest-serving British monarch.
The Head of State boarded the bus alongside First Lady Rachel Ruto, Tanzania President Samia Suluhu, among other African leaders.
However, the move seemed to irritate former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, who accused the UK of belittling African leaders.
Taking it to Facebook, Sonko said that it was not prudent for African leaders to ride in a bus expressing fears about their security.
“Hawa wazungu hawana adabu wanawekaje marais wa Africa ndani ya Bus moja huko London. God forbid kitu mbaya ifanyike kwa hiyo bus itakuaje?” Sonko posed.
A number of Heads of State were not allowed to use their motorcades as the UK government laid out strict rules to ease movement to the venue of the burial.
However, a select few Head of States like US President Joe Biden were allowed to use their official vehicles as the US president rode on his Cadillac One, famously known as the ‘Beast’.
Queen Elizabeth will be laid to rest later on Monday after passing away on September 8 at the age of 96.
