Roads, Transport and Public Works Cabinet Secretary nominee Kipchumba Murkomen has resigned as the senator for Elgeyo Marakwet.
Murkomen took it to social media on Wednesday, October 26, to confess that it was not easy to leave the senate after a 10-year tenure.
"A lot is going through my mind. Leaving the Senate is not easy. It’s been my home for the last 10 years," the Transport nominee CS stated.
Making his last presentation as a senator in the Senate chambers, Murkomen said that he was proud of his tenure in the Senate.
He maintained that it was not his job to tell Kenyans about his legacy but for historians to write about his responsibilities while he was a senator.

"The 10 years that the people of Elgeyo Marakwet entrusted me to serve in this house has come to an end. Any time this afternoon I will hand in my resignation letter. I'm very proud of my 10-year tenure in this house.
"It is not for me to tell Kenyans whether I left a legacy or not. It is for historians to write about my responsibilities in this house," Murkomen stated.
He added that the Senate could have achieved a lot had it resolved its relationship with the National Assembly.
As he prepares to take up his new role, Murkomen said that he will continue to be an ambassador of the Senate to ensure that the Executive respects the mandate of the Senate.
The Senate held a sitting on Wednesday to bid farewell to the senator as senators paid glowing tributes to the Transport CS nominee.
