Beatrice Kanze Dena-Mararo, better known as Kanze Dena, was born in Kwale County. She is the fourth born in a family of six children.
Kanze has been vocal about her family, especially her parent's divorce when she was four years old.
She attended Kianjokama Boarding school for her primary education, after which she enrolled at Kyeni Girls High School in Embu for secondary education.
Later, she joined the Foundation College of Professional Studies where she pursued Journalism and Mass Communication.
Kanze began her career at Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) as an intern. She would later be promoted to read the 4 pm bulletin on KBC radio.

In 2007, she joined Citizen TV and over the course of her 11 years at the station, Kanze served as a Swahili Anchor and News Director.
She became a household name because of exciting segments during the 7 pm Swahili bulletin hosted together with Lulu Hassan.
In 2018, she was appointed as Deputy State House Spokesperson.
Barely six weeks after starting the job, she was appointed as the acting State House Spokesperson and Head of the Presidential Strategic and Communication Unit (PSCU).
